Caring for over 20 years

Elms Court Rest Home, in Opawa, has been a part of the Burke Family for over 20 years. Roz now manages the home. Steve, Roz’s husband has left Elms Court Rest Home in good hands as he now manages Elms Court Village, which became part of the larger family in June 2021.

Burke Family goes tramping!

Steve and Roz are passionate about caring for the elderly.

Steve is a born and bred Cantabrian. He returns to his childhood neighbourhood after a successful career in the Police and managing Elms Court Rest Home. Steve has a Bachelor in Business Studies, however values his experiences and knowledge gained from living with and enriching the lives of elders at all our Elms Court homes he has owned and managed for the last 13 years as more rewarding then any other pursuits he has followed.

Roz is a successful mother of 4, juggling children and managing the day to day running of Elms Court Rest Home. Roz has a double degree from the University of Canterbury majoring in Management and Psychology and previously worked in Human Resource Management before marrying Steve and becoming part of the Elms Court Family. If you had asked Roz 10 years ago what she would be doing today she says working in Aged Care would definitely not have been on the radar, however she has developed a real passion for caring for the elderly from a positive mind set and wishes to spread the word that age is only a number and everyone has gifts of knowledge and experiences to share no matter their age.

Sarah has been a Registered Nurse within the Aged Care sector for 15 years across New Zealand and Australia. Her passion for caring for our older population began at 17 when she became a caregiver in a facility in Nelson then went on to gain her Bachelor in Nursing.

Becoming part of the Elms Court family in 2015, Sarah has been part of its growth and development and the Aged Care sector truly has her heart. As well as leading the team at Elms Court Life Care, Sarah and her husband are busy with young two children and as a family enjoy camping, movie nights and good rainy day Lego session.
